The Republic Tigers will compete in the newly aligned District Four in next season’s football playoffs. Republic is joined in the eight-team district by Webb City, Carthage, Hillcrest, Marshfield, Carl Junction, McDonald County and West Plains.
Missouri’s new playoff format will mean a nine-game regular season, instead of a 10-game season. The eight teams in the district will be seeded by a point system over the regular season. Week 10 will begin a single-elimination tournament involving every team. Week 11 becomes the equivalent of a district semifinal, and Week 12 is a District Championship game.
At that point, eight teams will remain, setting up the state quarterfinals.
