Republic showed big improvement over their early-season performances last year, but lost at the road at Kickapoo to open the program’s second season, 4-1.
The Lady Tigers kept the game scoreless until Taylor Merritt and Kenzie Dunaway scored goals within about two minutes of one another with about 20 minutes left in the first half. A goal by Natalie Closser and another by Merritt made the score 4-0.
Republic’s lone goal came on a free kick by Lesleigh Fenton late in the second half.
Kickapoo’s JV beat Republic 9-0.
