Edwards Returns to Lineup in Lady Tigers Loss

The Republic Lady Tigers welcomed back their inside anchor to the lineup at Ozark Wednesday, but that’s about the only thing that went right. Republic lost their COC opener, 56-37.

Center Alexis Edwards had missed the first half of the season with a knee injury she suffered in the offseason. She returned to a team that has been state ranked, despite often having been outsized in the middle.  In her debut, coach Kris Flood limited Edwards’ time on the floor as he worked her into the lineup.

Things were bad from the start for Republic, who fell behind 19-11 after one quarter. By halftime, it was 32-15.

Alice Heinzler had 15 points to lead all scorers. Melanie Williams had 14 points to lead Ozark.

Republic’s loss came just a few days after Republic and Ozark played a much better game at the KTXR Lady Classic. Ozark won that game 55-50.
