Republic used full-court pressure defense to spark a second-half run and capture 61-52 win over Rogersville Thursday.
The game was even through 2 1/2 quarters. Rogersville led 12-10 after one period, and the game was tied 25-25 at halftime.
By the end of the 3rd quarter, Republic’s defense had helped them build a 5-point edge, 38-33. And they eventually built the cushion to 11, before settling for the 9-point win.
Payton Rayl had 18 points to lead the Lady Tigers, including 7 of 8 from the free throw line. Alexis Edwards added 17. Brooke Dutton had 7, Alex Botkin had 6, and Kailey Mathis added 4 points. Alice Heinzler scored 3, and Lindsey Carlson, Kyla Fieth and Kyra Ramsey had 2 apiece.
Republic improves to 12-6. Rogersville is 7-10.
The Lady Tigers return to the court at home Saturday, in a 1 p.m. game against Pattonville.
