The Republic Lady Tigers used a strong start and a strong finish to beat Marshfield 62-52, and advance to the semifinals of the Pink & White Tournament.
The Lady Tigers jumped on top 8-1, and stretched the lead to 24-11 before Marshfield hit a 3-pointer to end the 1st quarter. Republic led 40-29 at halftime.
Marshfield used outside shooting to close the gap in the 2nd half, and eventually cut the lead to 5, at 52-47. But Alexis Edwards took over midway through the 4th quarter, scoring six straight points to give the Lady Tigers a double-digit lead again.
Edwards finished with 16 points, including 12 in the 2nd half. Sarah Kreul also scored 16, and Kyra Ramsey had 12.
Republic advances to the semifinals of the Pink & White, where they’ll play Ozark at 3:30 Wednesday. That game will be played at McDonald Arena.
