Matches the Lady Tigers played against Central Ozark Conference West opponents this season. They won all 55. Republic beat Joplin, Willard, Webb City, Carthage and Neosho 9-0 in regular-season duals, then beat Webb City and Willard 5-0 on Wednesday at Cooper Tennis Complex to win its second straight COC West title. None of Republic’s six varsity players lost a match Wednesday.
Team sweeps for the Lady Tigers this season, one more than the program record of nine set in 2020. Seven came in 9-0 regular-season duals, one in a 5-0 win over Ozark at the Kickapoo tournament on Aug. 28 and two at Wednesday’s conference tournament.
Straight wins for the Lady Tigers, who are 15-1 since a 5-3 loss to Kickapoo on the first day of the season. Their 13-1 regular season was the program’s best record in dual play in at least 17 years, and the JV finished 11-0. Republic hosts its first-round Class 3 District 5 team match Monday.
Career shutouts for goalkeeper Koal Williams, a Republic record. Williams passed Dalton Ghan’s mark of 21 with his 22nd on Sept. 12, a 1-0 overtime win over Summit Christian Academy. Williams has added three more since, against Central, Capital City and Lebanon (Central won in a shootout after a 0-0 tie, which still counts as a shutout because shootout goals don’t count against a keeper), and has seven this season.
Republic’s record in matches decided by one goal. Nine of the Tigers’ 17 matches have gone that way, including 1-0 wins over Cassville, Northwest, Capital City and Lebanon, a 1-0 overtime win over Summit Christian Academy and a 2-1 double-overtime win at Kickapoo. Josh Hart scored the only goal against Cassville and Lebanon. Three more ended in ties settled by shootouts: losses to Monett and Central and a win over Branson.
Kills for Reese Finley, the team lead, ahead of Kate Mitchell’s 158. The senior also leads the Lady Tigers with 170 digs and is second in assists with 248, behind Chloe Pullan’s 326. Republic is 15-11 after sweeping Willard and Joplin in its last two matches.
Chloe Simpson’s batting average through 22 games, with 27 hits in 65 at-bats. Simpson has four doubles, a triple and a home run, 12 runs batted in and 14 runs scored, and her on-base percentage is .437.
Time Luke Delahay has cut since the season opener. The sophomore ran 18:50.7 at the 417Running Cross Country Kickoff in Nixa on Aug. 29 and a personal-best 17:33.4 at the Camdenton Laker Invitational on Oct. 3, finishing 24th.
