Republic had plenty of chances against Waynesville Thursday night, but Waynesville’s goalkeeper stopped all seven Republic shots on goal in a 2-0 Waynesville win at Republic.

Republic outshot Waynesville 15-14 and had six corner kicks to Waynesville’s two, but eight of those 15 shots went wide or over the goal. Maddox Aldridge put all three of his shots on goal, starting with a header two minutes into the game, and Micah Wright had two shots saved.

Waynesville scored midway through the first half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Koal Williams kept it a one-goal game until midway through the second half, and he finished with seven saves.

Waynesville’s second goal came in the 62nd minute, when Williams saved a shot and Waynesville put in a header seconds later. Wright, Dylan Garrison and Landon Otero all had shots in the final 20 minutes, but none of them found the net.

The loss comes two days after Republic’s double-overtime win at Kickapoo and drops the Tigers to 7-6. Waynesville improves to 3-5. Republic plays at Camdenton on Saturday.
