Jenna Smith shot the best round of her career twice in eight days to start the 2026 season. The second time earned her a medal. Smith shot an 80 at the Marshfield Invitational on Thursday to finish fifth, earning the first medal of her season. It was a personal best by three strokes, and it came a week after the 83 she shot at the MSU Relays — which had been a personal best by six strokes.

Smith’s career low going into this season was an 89, shot at last year’s Central Ozark Conference tournament. She took six strokes off that number in her season opener, finishing ninth in a field of 85 at the MSU Relays, three spots below the medal cutoff.

Eliza Scullawl and Chloe Priebe both shot 113 at Marshfield, improvements of five and two strokes for Republic’s two newcomers. All three Republic golfers in the field turned in the best round of their careers on the same afternoon.

Nine strokes off a career low to start the season, and a first medal to show for it — Jenna Smith’s round at Marshfield is our Performance of the Week.
