Republic led Ozark 18-17 in the third set Thursday night, but Ozark scored the next seven points to put the match away, winning the set 25-20 and the match 3-0. Ozark never trailed in the first two sets and took them 25-20 and 25-15 before Republic led for most of the third.
Ozark opened the first set 3-0 and led 8-2 before Republic scored three straight to get within 11-8. The Lady Tigers were down 16-13 when Ozark ran off four in a row to lead 21-14, and Republic got no closer than four the rest of the way.
Ozark took the second set by scoring seven straight from 1-1 to lead 8-1. Republic scored three in a row to get within 11-7, and Ozark answered with three of its own to go up 19-12 and finished it 25-15.
Republic scored six straight after Ozark’s first point of the third set to lead 6-1, and Ozark answered with four in a row to make it 6-5. The set was tied at 7 and again at 10 before Republic scored four straight to lead 14-10. Ozark tied it at 17, and Republic went up 18-17 before Ozark’s run of seven straight points made it 24-18. Republic scored twice more before Ozark closed it out.
Republic is 9-6 after the loss, and Ozark improves to 8-1. The Lady Tigers play in the Springfield Classic this weekend.
