Alex Johnson won the 200 meters and ran a personal-best 10.81 in the 100 to lead a Republic contingent of 14 sectional qualifiers at the Class 5 District 6 meet at Nixa on Saturday.
Johnson, a junior, took the 200 in 22.09 and finished second in the 100. He also anchored the 4×100 relay that placed third in 42.72 with Jacob Duran, Gavin Lawhon and Treyton Gray. Johnson is the only three-event qualifier for Republic.
Brylie Harris doubled up for the girls. The sophomore took fourth in the 800 in 2:34.35 and ran on the runner-up 4×800 relay, which finished in 10:15.90 with Josie Stalzer, Jovi Kirby and Zoey Johns.
The throws produced two more runner-up finishes. Ekene Chukwu threw 52.16 meters to place second in the discus, and Izaiah Hull threw 49.42 meters to take second in the javelin. Kaleb Norman added a personal-best 49.04 meters for fourth in the javelin.
AJ Uhl placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in a personal-best 15.15.
On the girls side, Maura Lander finished second in the triple jump at 10.90 meters, and Reese Tate cleared 2.92 meters to take third in the pole vault.
Senior Danny Fair cleared a personal-best 4.24 meters in the pole vault but lost a tiebreaker for fourth, finishing fifth in his final meet as a Tiger. Avery Rossow took fifth in the shot put at 10.86 meters, and Emma Ellison was fifth in the javelin at 35.01 meters.
