Republic’s girls swimming team put together the best team finish in program history at the SWMO Championships, placing second out of 21 teams with 337 points. The Lady Tigers won both freestyle relays and scored across the lineup to earn the program’s highest placement at the meet.
Republic took first in the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.80) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:54.27). Both events have been strengths all season, and while neither time set a new school record, the results reflected how steady the team has been since December. Several relay and individual records have already fallen this winter, which has reset the bar for what qualifies as a standout swim.
Ava Brown led Republic with 45 points, finishing second in the 200 freestyle and third in the 100 freestyle while anchoring both winning relays. Elise Replogle was right behind with 44 points, placing third in the 100 butterfly and third in the 100 breaststroke and swimming on both relays. Zaylie Pinnell added 41 points with a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 100 freestyle. Annalice Renegar scored 32 points, finishing seventh in both the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle. Amelia Beaver chipped in 25 points, highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the 100 backstroke. Sara Chism and Mei Pruett rounded out Republic’s scoring, part of a depth effort that has defined the team’s season.
The overall team performance on Friday and Saturday was our Performance of the Week!
