Republic jumped out to a 22-point lead in the first quarter and never trailed, defeating the Missouri Warriors 88-35 in the opening round of the Bolivar Liberator Tournament. The win sends the Tigers to the tournament semifinals Friday at 7 pm.
Twelve different players contributed to the scoring as several Tigers reached personal milestones. Braxton Lundberg scored a career-high 14 points, and Greyson Fleetwood also reached a career high with 12 points. The game marked the first varsity points for Maverick Baker, Keegan Greek, Kordel Riley, and Noah Vermule.
Keiran Govan led all scorers with 15 points. AJ Uhl also reached double figures with 13. The Missouri Warriors, a Springfield-based homeschool organization, joined the tournament field as a late replacement.
The Warriors were led by Samson Stalker, who finished with 11 points.
The victory moves Republic coach Tim Brown to 299 career wins. He will have an opportunity to reach the 300-win milestone in Friday’s semifinal against the winner of Thursday’s matchup between Jefferson City and Helias.
