There were a lot of great performances over the past week, but nobody did more in a short time than Paelyn Gilmore on Friday night. With Republic trailing 45-39 in the 4th quarter, Gilmore went on a two-minute tear to put the Lady Tigers on top.
She started the sequence with a drive, a scoop shot, a foul, and a free throw. The three-point play cut state-ranked Troy’s lead to three.
Gilmore followed that up with a three-pointer from the left wing, tying the game 45-45. And a short time later, she hit another three-pointer—this one from near the left sideline nearly 25 feet from the bucket. That gave Republic a lead it would never relinquish.
Gilmore finished the game with 19 points, but it was her two-minute stretch late in the fourth quarter against Troy that earned her our Performance of the Week.
