Republic’s turnaround continued in dramatic fashion Tuesday night. Down a goal on the road, the Tigers rallied behind second-half scores from Mason Tackett and William Pinnell to stun Joplin 2–1 and stretch their winning streak to three.
Joplin struck first in the 24th minute, but Republic drew even early in the second half when Tackett converted a penalty kick in the 56th minute. Pinnell netted the game-winner in the 76th minute, taking a pass from Tackett and sending a low shot into the net from just above the penalty arc.
The Tigers made their chances count, scoring twice on only three shots on goal. Tackett and Pinnell each finished with two shots and one goal.
Goalkeeper Koal Williams stopped four of five shots for an 80% save rate. Leighton Perez and Sieb Kleeven each picked up yellow cards as Republic was whistled for 13 fouls.
Joplin outshot Republic 10–7, but the Tigers’ defense kept the Eagles off the board in the second half.
The victory was Republic’s third in a row and ninth in its last ten matches, improving the Tigers’ record to 10–11 after a 1–10 start. It was also the first time this season Republic scored multiple goals in consecutive games.
Republic travels to Kickapoo on Thursday.
