Republic battled through a five-set thriller Thursday, defeating Carthage 25–20, 22–25, 15–25, 25–23, 15–10 on Senior Night. The win capped a long evening in the gym that saw all three matches—freshman, JV, and varsity—go the distance.
Reese Finley led Republic with 15 kills and 21 digs, topping the team in both categories. Kate Mitchell added eight kills and three blocks, and Rylee Vent finished with seven kills and three blocks. Bria Claxton recorded four service aces, and Chloe Pullan tallied 24 assists to pace the offense.
Before the match, Republic honored its two seniors, Claxton and Hailey Fuentes.
“These two girls are just phenomenal,” coach Allison Davis said. “What they’ve brought to our program the last four years is indescribable. Their dedication and the amount of time they’ve poured into our program—it’s going to be hard to not have them here next year. I truly believe they’re leaving a positive legacy. I’m really proud of them and excited to see what they’re going to do in the future.”
As part of the evening’s “Pink Out” event, the volleyball program presented a $1,154 check to the American Cancer Society before the match, the result of the team’s fundraising efforts.
