Republic’s softball team continued its late-season surge with a 5–1 win over Carthage at home Tuesday, extending its winning streak to six games. During that stretch, the Lady Tigers have allowed only three total runs.

Republic jumped ahead early, scoring three runs in the first inning. Paige Elsenraat led off with a walk and came around to score on a single by Piper Dishman. Addie Brown reached on an error and later scored, and Myleigh Mooneyham—running for Dishman—crossed the plate on a groundout by Maddie Carter to make it 3–0.

Carthage scored its only run in the third on an error, but Republic answered immediately when a throwing error on a steal attempt allowed Madi Chevalier—courtesy running for Maddie Carter— to score from third. The Lady Tigers added their final run in the sixth when Kaityn Stewart reached on an error and later scored on another Carthage miscue.

Republic pitchers Piper Dishman and Kara Goeke combined to hold Carthage to two hits. Dishman worked the first three innings, allowing one unearned run, and Goeke closed out the final four, striking out four and giving up just two hits. Each walked one batter.

At the plate, Dishman finished with two hits and an RBI, while Addie Brown had two hits, a run scored, and an RBI.

The win improved Republic’s record to 17–13 overall. The Lady Tigers will travel to Willard (23–5) on Thursday for a key Central Ozark Conference West matchup.
