Republic earned its first Central Ozark Conference West victory of the season with a 9-0 sweep of Carthage on Monday. The Tigers controlled the match from start to finish, winning every contest in straight sets.
The Tigers took command early in doubles play. Claire Norris and Marlee Vasquez won No. 1 doubles 8-1. Mati Carpenter and Aubree Tinsley captured No. 2 doubles by the same 8-1 margin. Paelyn Kaufmann and Abigail Bremer completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory at No. 3.
Republic carried that momentum into singles competition. Carpenter rolled to an 8-0 win at No. 1 singles. Norris added another 8-0 victory at No. 2 singles. Vasquez won No. 3 singles 8-1, while Kaufmann took No. 4 singles 8-1.
Bremer secured the No. 5 singles position 8-3, the closest match of the day. Tinsley rounded out the scoring with an 8-1 victory at No. 6 singles.
The victory improved Republic to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in COC West play. Carthage dropped to 3-6 with the loss.
Republic travels to Nixa on Tuesday for its next match.
