Republic bounced back from a tough weekend tournament with a convincing home sweep of Lebanon, 25-16, 25-13, 25-13. The victory came after the Lady Tigers had dropped four of five at the high-caliber Rockwood Summit tournament, but had still showed progress compared to last year’s performance there.
Reese Finley led the way with 13 kills. Kate Mitchell finished with four blocks, Bria Claxton had 10 digs, and Audrey Pearce delivered two service aces. Chloe Pullan distributed the offense with 23 assists.
Coach Allison Davis said the difficult schedule, including early matches with cross-division powerhouses Nixa and Ozark, is preparing her team for the next phase of the schedule, the COC West. “Tonight shows even though we start pretty tough in the schedule, we can still compete really well,” she said. “We’re getting better, and we have the opportunity to play these types of games in order to prepare for our tough COC Conference.”
Republic’s JV team also won in straight sets, and the freshman team took its match two sets to one.
