Harris Defends Home Turf with Race Win; 16 Republic Runners Medal

Republic packed the medal stand at its home invitational, with sophomore Brylie Harris winning the girls’ race and 15 more Tigers and Lady Tigers joining her in the top 25. Republic ended the day with eight medalists in each race, competing under warm conditions on a rerouted course altered by construction behind the high school.

Boys

Sophomore Lucas Riffe was Republic’s top finisher, placing third in 18:31.33. Senior William Payne followed in fifth at 19:01.03. Republic then stacked the middle of the pack with Alexander deHaan (8th, 19:59.83), Dalton Glendenning (9th, 20:00.69), Caleb Brest (11th, 20:04.62), Luke Delahay (12th, 20:17.22), and Gabe Benjamin (13th, 20:19.45).

The Tigers’ eighth medalist was senior Anthony Badami, who finished 23rd in 21:12.80. Freshman Eli Sherrow just missed the cutoff in 27th. Other Republic runners included Kaisei Wilcutt (28th), Joshua Haigler (47th), Derek Argaez (48th), Braxton Zinter (49th), and Hiro Nambara (54th).

Girls

Harris captured the individual crown in 20:59.99. Sophomore Zoey Johns placed third in 22:29.07, and freshman Peyton Bodoin was fifth at 23:07.45. Three more Lady Tigers followed quickly: Malori Koskovich (9th, 23:48.15), Jovi Kirby (10th, 23:51.47), and Catherine Wilson (11th, 24:04.67).

Republic’s medal haul was rounded out by junior Chloe Gralak (21st, 27:20.81) and freshman Ellie Woolfenden (22nd, 27:35.92).

Republic now turns its attention to the Camdenton Invitational, set for Ha Ha Tonka State Park.
