Danny Fair falls short in the pole vault, so his season ends at sectionals.
Gracie Troester is a state qualifier in four different events for the third time in her career. The senior capped her day with a third-place finish in the 3200m run.
Reese Finley qualified for state with a second-place finish in the 400m dash in 58.53.
Gracie Troester turned in one of her most spectacular finishes ever in the 800m run. Troester was sitting in seventh place with about 250 meters left. She kicked it into high gear and sprinted past five competitors down the stretch, finishing second and qualifying in her third event of the day.
Will Payne fell just short in the 300m hurdles. He finished fifth in a time of 41.22, just .14 behind the fourth-place finisher and just .43 out of second place.
Kaleb Norman was in last place out of eight competitors after the first two throws of the javelin. But his third throw earned him third place and a bid at state, with a distance of 47.96m. He had been seeded fourth.
Gracie Troester is a double state qualifier. She cruised to a 4th-place finish in the 1600m run.
Sienna Blankenship jumped a personal best in the pole vault, and she turned a 7th seed into a 3rd place finish to qualify for state as a sophomore.
Keiran Govan broke a 1991 school record in the triple jump, then broke it again on his final jump. He finished first and will compete in two events at state next week.
The 4x800m relay team of Josie Stalzer, Brylie Harris, Zoey Johns, and Gracie Troester will compete at state. They finished 4th.
Keiran Govan is the first state qualifier. He finished second in the high jump. AJ Uhl missed just short of the qualifying height. (Govan will compete in the triple jump later today.)
