Republic athletes claimed five gold medals at the Central Ozark Conference West Division meet in Springfield, highlighted by Reese Finley’s record-breaking performance in the 400 meters.
Finley broke her own school record with a time of 57.24 seconds to win the event. The girls 4×800 relay team of Zoey Johns, Brylie Harris, Josie Stalzer, and Gracie Troester also captured gold with a time of 10:03.86.
In field events, Republic athletes turned in three first-place finishes. Ekene Chukwu won the discus (48.41m), Kaleb Norman claimed the javelin title (48.39m), and Sienna Blankenship took gold in the pole vault (2.89m).
Gracie Troester delivered a standout performance with three silver medals, placing second in the 800 (2:22.00), 1600 (5:21.99), and 3200 (11:30.09).
Other Republic medalists included Keiran Govan (2nd, triple jump, 13.72m), Danny Fair (2nd, pole vault, 3.96m), Madison Chevalier (2nd, javelin, 33.62m), Sammi Watson (3rd, javelin, 32.53m), and Gavin Lawhon (3rd, 100m, 10.88).
In the team standings, Republic girls finished fourth with 111.5 points, while the boys placed sixth with 72 points. Carthage won the girls division with 173 points, while Webb City and Willard tied for the boys title with 142 points each.
