Several Republic Athletes Win Branson Events

Republic’s track and field athletes posted several first-place finishes at the Branson Invitational against just Branson and Hollister. In the small three-school field, the Republic boys finished second to Branson overall with 197 points, while the girls also took second behind Branson with 142 points.

Gracie Troester won both the 1600-meter run and 3200-meter run while also anchoring the winning 4×800-meter relay team in what served as a tune-up meet – the second competition of the week and season.

On the boys’ side, Will Payne claimed first place in the 300-meter hurdles, Treyton Gray won the 100-meter dash, and Peyton Ash took first in the 200-meter dash.

The Republic boys 4×200-meter relay team of James Richmond, Gray, Keiran Govan, and Ash earned a victory in the limited field.

In field events, Nevaeh Ghan won the girls high jump, Avery Rossow took first in girls discus, Sammi Watson won the javelin throw, and Kate Mitchell won the long jump. For the boys, Govan won the triple jump, Danny Fair claimed first in pole vault, and Kaleb Norman won the javelin throw.

Republic returns to action with Girls Night Out on April 10 and Boys Night Out on April 11.
