Nixa pitcher Jackson Gamble dominated Republic’s lineup, striking out 11 batters in a complete-game shutout as the Eagles rolled to a 10-0 victory Wednesday at Nixa.
Republic managed just two hits against Gamble, who walked only one batter and faced just three over the minimum in his five-inning performance. The Eagles’ offense backed up their pitcher with 10 runs on eight hits.
Wyatt Vincent fueled Nixa’s attack, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, including a sacrifice fly. Nixa jumped ahead early, scoring three runs in the second inning. Parker Mann singled to drive in one run, then Vincent singled to bring home two more, aided by an error.
The Eagles added three more runs in the third inning and another in the fourth to build a 7-0 lead. They closed out the scoring with three more in the fifth to reach the 10-run threshold for the run rule.
Preston McCracken took the loss for Republic, allowing six runs (two earned) on four hits in three innings while striking out six and walking two. Ryder Davis pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on four hits.
Brennan Overstreet and Ryder Davis had the only hits for Republic, which struck out 11 times against Gamble – their second straight game with double-digit strikeouts after fanning 13 times against Ozark the previous day.
The loss dropped Republic’s record to 7-4, while Nixa improved to 12-1.
