Republic Track and Field Teams Win Home Meet

Republic’s track and field teams swept the team championships at the Republic Classic Monday, with the boys scoring 158 points and the girls amassing 198 points.

The Tiger boys finished ahead of Fair Grove (130), Springfield Catholic (83), and Stockton (71). The Lady Tigers won comfortably over Fair Grove (120.5) and Sarcoxie (97).

Keiran Govan led the boys with victories in two events, winning the high jump (1.78m) and triple jump (12.60m). William Payne took first in the 300-meter hurdles (42.88), while Daniel Fair claimed the pole vault title (4.11m). The boys also won the 4×400-meter relay with the team of Trenten Coleman, Payne, Jordan Todd, and Israel Booher (3:49.74).

For the girls, Gracie Troester shined with victories in both the 1600-meter run (5:31.39) and 3200-meter run (11:42.04). She was also part of two winning relays. In field events, Nevaeh Ghan won the high jump (1.47m), Avery Rossow took the discus title (32.68m), and Sienna Blankenship topped the pole vault competition (2.59m).

The Lady Tigers also won both the 4×800 relay and the 4×400 relay.

Republic collected points throughout the meet with multiple top-three finishes. AJ Uhl took second in the high jump (1.73m) and third in the 110-meter hurdles (17.14). Aiden Schaefer won the discus throw (41.82m), while teammates CJ Uhl and Ekene Chukwu finished fifth and sixth in the same event.

Other key contributors for the girls included Sammi Watson (second in javelin), Allison Burford (second in discus), and Josie Stalzer, who won the 800-meter run in 2:38.88.

Republic’s next competition will be at the Branson Invitational on April 3.
