The Lady Tigers soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to the Capital City Cavaliers on the road in Jefferson City Saturday.
Capital City broke through late in the first half when Kassidy Loethen converted a penalty kick with 9:47 remaining to give the Cavaliers a 1-0 advantage. Amaura Austell extended the lead to 2-0 with 3:40 left before halftime.
For the second straight game, Republic’s opponent scored first on a penalty kick. The Lady Tigers had quality scoring chances in the second half when trailing 2-0 that could have changed the momentum, but they couldn’t convert.
Austell added two more goals in the second half to complete her hat trick. Her scores came with 25:16 and 8:31 remaining in the match.
The loss drops Republic to 0-2 on the season. The Lady Tigers will look to bounce back in their home opener against Glendale on March 26th.
