After surrendering 38 first-half points, Republic’s defense slammed the door on Neosho in a 57-50 comeback win Monday night. Republic trailed by as many as 15 points in the third quarter before mounting its comeback.

The Tigers (18-3) trailed 38-26 at halftime but held Neosho (7-13) to just 12 points in the second half, including only five in the third quarter. That defensive effort helped Republic take control of the game.

Brenley Hagewood scored 20 points to lead Republic. CJ Uhl added 16, and Keiran Govan finished with 10. Republic scored the first eight points of the game, but didn’t lead again until they took their first lead of the second half at 44-43 on a Davin Parks basket in the fourth quarter. Parks scored nine points, with seven of them coming in the final period.

Republic outscored Neosho 31-12 in the second half, including a 17-7 advantage in the fourth quarter. The Tigers closed the game on a 13-7 run after taking the lead.

Zack Forsythe led Neosho with 17 points before fouling out. Oliver Martin and Kaiden Asberry scored nine points each. After hitting six three-pointers in the first half, the Wildcats managed just one after halftime.

Republic will host Joplin Friday in a rescheduled boys-girls super night.
