Performance of the Week – Republic Boys Basketball

Republic unleashed an explosive 32-point third quarter against Webb City Friday night, turning a nine-point halftime lead into a blowout that ended in an 80-46 victory.

The Tigers opened the quarter with a 9-0 run that included three baskets by CJ Uhl and one each from Brenley Hagewood and Davin Parks. That stretched a nine-point halftime lead to 40-22, setting the tone for what was to come.

After Webb City broke the run with a basket, Republic reeled off another streak of points. The Tigers scored seven of the next ten points, with Uhl accounting for four of them, to push the lead to 16.

But the Tigers weren’t finished. Over the final three minutes of the quarter, Hagewood took over. He scored 12 points during that stretch, including two three-pointers. That helped Republic close the period on an 18-10 run, turning what had been a nine-point game at halftime into a 23-point Tiger advantage.

By quarter’s end, Republic had scored more points (32) than Webb City managed in the entire first half (22). Five different Tigers scored during the period: Hagewood (14), Uhl (9), Parks (5), Davis (3), and Govan (1).

“I thought our guys were locked in, and we had a good game plan, and they were bought into it,” coach Tim Brown said after the game.

Thirty-two points in a quarter is tied for the 23rd-highest single-quarter output in Missouri history, according to the records listed on the Missouri State High School Activities Association website. Republic’s 32-point outburst was our Performance of the Week!
