Brenley Hagewood hit a career milestone in style Tuesday, surpassing 1,500 career points while leading Republic to a 77-36 win over Warrensburg in the first round of the Bolivar Liberator Tournament. Hagewood scored 26 points in the victory as Republic advanced to the tournament semifinals.
The milestone adds to the history Republic has made at the Liberator Tournament. Just last year, Hagewood reached 1,000 career points on the same court.
“It’s a pretty cool feat. Not many people are going to do that, and I’m blessed to be able to be put in that position to beat that goal,” Hagewood said.
Hagewood helped Republic take control early, as the Tigers built a 41-22 halftime lead. He continued his strong play in a decisive third quarter when Republic outscored Warrensburg 28-7 to put the game away.
His 26-point performance and career milestone achievement is our Performance of the Week.
