First-Year Phenoms: Republic Swimmers Earn State Berths

A pair of Republic freshmen will swim against Missouri’s best next week at the Class 1 state championships, with one qualifying in multiple events. Elise Replogle and Amelia Beaver earned spots in the state meet field when final qualifying times were announced.

Replogle qualified in two events. She’ll compete in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:26.31) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.82). She enters the state meet seeded 31st in the IM and 24th in the breaststroke.

Beaver secured her spot at state with a dramatic time drop in the 100-yard backstroke at the SWMO Invitational. She shaved 2.5 seconds off her previous school record, finishing in 1:07.65. That performance pushed her into the 30th spot in the state rankings.

The state meet will be held February 21-22 at the St. Peters Rec-Plex.
