Republic celebrated senior night while both its boys and girls wrestling teams rolled through a quad meet against Parkview, Hollister, and Hillcrest on Wednesday.
The Tigers recognized seven seniors between duals: wrestlers Shea Rogers, Abby Horn, Chase Hicks, Tanner Gonzalez, Cam Allen, and Adam Dunlap, along with team manager Makia McRoberts.
“This class is special to me. It’s my first class, my first year here was this group,” coach Eric Nolan said. “I’m very appreciative of how much this group has helped our program grow and succeed and improve over the years.”
In girls competition, Republic defeated Parkview 48-12. In contested matches, Bre-Elle Gutierrez (110) and Rachel Clark (115) won by fall, while LaLisa Whiteside of Parkview pinned Sakura Wilcutt (105). Republic picked up six forfeit victories.
Against Hollister, Republic’s Gutierrez (110), Clark (115), and Millie Waterman (120) won by fall in the only contested matches of a 54-0 victory.
Republic’s girls defeated Hillcrest 54-24. In contested matches, senior Abby Horn pinned Alexis Stogsdill in 30 seconds at 130 pounds, and Addison Stepp pinned Jailee Figueroa in 2:39 at 155. Hillcrest’s Tailynn Pohslander pinned Ashleigh Dustin at 145 pounds.
The Republic boys topped Parkview 66-12. In contested matches, Corbin Massey (120), Bentley Packwood (126), Daniel Gonzalez (144), Adam Dunlap (150), and Kaiden Patterson (157) all won by fall. Jermaine Townsend of Parkview pinned Tanner Gonzalez at 190, and Eli Holt won by forfeit at 285.
Against Hollister, Republic won 71-11. In contested matches, Corbin Massey earned a technical fall over Ryan Southern at 120 pounds (19-3). Bentley Packwood (126), Shea Rogers (132), Keaton Overcast (138), Adam Dunlap (150), Kameron Sutton (165), Cam Allen (175), Tanner Gonzalez (190), and Jaxston Feuerborn (285) all recorded pins. Bryson Whitman of Hollister won by technical fall over Kaiden Patterson at 157.
In the final dual against Hillcrest, Republic won 65-15. Corbin Massey earned another technical fall (17-2) at 120 pounds, while senior Shea Rogers needed just 35 seconds to pin Luke Collier at 132. Keaton Overcast (138), Daniel Gonzalez (144), Adam Dunlap (150), Kameron Sutton (165), Cam Allen (175), Tanner Gonzalez (190), and Chase Hicks (215) all won by fall.
