Republic’s 200-yard freestyle relay team didn’t just break a school record Saturday – they shattered it. The team of Aubree Tinsley, Elise Replogle, Mei Pruett, and Amelia Beaver finished in 1:53.92 at the Ozarks Invitational, beating the previous mark by more than two seconds.
The performance was part of a strong team showing at Foster Natatorium. Replogle added a third-place finish in the 200 individual medley and fourth in the 100 breaststroke. Tinsley earned two 10th-place finishes in the freestyle sprints, and Beaver placed 10th in the 100 backstroke. The same group, with Sara Chism swimming in place of Pruett, added a seventh-place finish in the medley relay. Together, Republic’s five swimmers combined to finish ninth in a 17-team field.
The old record in the 200 free relay was set last year by Pruett, Tinsley, Addison Penney, and Julia Walsh.
The record-breaking relay performance, which helped power Republic to a top-half team finish despite its small roster, is our Performance of the Week.
