Hagewood Milestone Highlights Republic Tourney Rout

Republic opened the Bolivar Liberator Tournament with a 77-36 win over Warrensburg Tuesday night, getting 26 points from Brenley Hagewood, who surpassed 1,500 career points in the victory.

The Tigers pulled away in the second half after building a 41-22 halftime lead. C.J. Uhl added 18 points and Davin Parks finished with 10.

Playing their first game in more than a week, the Tigers led 21-10 after one quarter. They outscored Warrensburg 28-7 in the third quarter to seal the win.

Nick Nimmo and Jalen Ruble scored eight points each for Warrensburg.

Hagewood’s 1,500-point milestone continued to tradition of Republic milestones at the Liberator Tournament.

“It’s a pretty cool feat. Not many people are going to do that, and I’m blessed to be able to be put in that position to beat that goal,” Hagewood said.

Hagewood hit 1,000 career points at Bolivar a year ago. And Drew McMillin scored a school-record 61 points and made 16 three-pointers in the same tournament in 2021.
