Republic’s swim team set three school records at the Kirkwood Girls Invitational during weekend competition, including two relay marks that fell multiple times.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Amelia Beaver, Sara Chism, Elise Replogle, and Aubree Tinsley broke their own school record in prelims Friday with a time of 1:52.22. The same group had set the previous mark earlier this season at 1:53.92.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team also set two records in two days. Tinsley, Beaver, Mei Pruett, and Replogle first broke the record in prelims with a 4:15.44, then lowered it again in finals to 4:14.51. That broke the previous record of 4:19.44 held by Karissa Metzger, Quinn McCrea, Kathryn Flippin, and Mady McCrea.
Individually, Beaver broke the school record in the 100-yard backstroke prelims at Kirkwood, finishing in 1:11.56 to edge past Karissa Metzger’s previous mark of 1:11.69.
Replogle advanced to finals in both her individual events. She placed 14th in the 200-yard individual medley and 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke, where she set a personal best of 1:13.82.
The 200 free relay team placed 11th in finals, and the 400 free relay team finished 12th.
