Republic wrestlers swept a home dual meet against Branson Thursday, with the girls winning 48-24 and the boys winning 50-26. The matches included seven pins for the Republic girls and a dramatic tiebreaker victory by Jaxston Feuerborn in the boys heavyweight match.
In the girls competition, Republic picked up falls from Dorothy Waterman (105), Bre-Elle Gutierrez (110), Rachel Clark (115), Millie Waterman (120), Abby Horn (130), Gabby Shanks (140), and Aara Shade (145). Ashleigh Dustin added a win by forfeit at 155 pounds. The win improved the Lady Tigers’ dual meet record to 2-1.
The Republic boys won with a mix of forfeits and decisive victories. Lucas Martin (106), Coy Chrihfield (113), and Jesse Kovalik (120) each won by forfeit to start the night. Keaton Overcast (138) and Kameron Sutton (165) both earned first-period pins, with Sutton finishing his match in 48 seconds. Cam Allen (175) followed with a pin in 52 seconds.
Daniel Gonzalez dominated his match at 144 pounds, winning by technical fall 18-3. Feuerborn capped off the night by outlasting Adrian Sanchez of Branson in a tiebreaker, 2-1, in the heavyweight division. The victory moved the Tigers to 1-2 in duals this season.
For Branson, brothers Ryzen and Zayden Isringhausen picked up technical falls at 126 and 132 pounds, respectively. Carson Ruda (150) and Camden Uhrhammer (190) won by fall for the Pirates.
