Republic played even with top-seeded Ozark for much of the first set, but fell in three at the district tournament in Willard Friday night, 25-19, 25-9, 25-13. The teams were tied 12-12 before Ozark began to pull away, winning its 35th match of the season against just three losses.
Republic had advanced to the semifinals with a win over Springfield Kickapoo Tuesday, ending a long drought against the Lady Chiefs.
Republic finishes its season 14-17. The match was the final one in a Republic uniform for seniors Kaylee Cornelsen, Reese Frey, Nevaeh Ghan, and Adison Gibbs.
