Republic led twice, but couldn’t hold on in a 3-2 overtime soccer loss to Joplin on Tuesday. Joplin scored about seven minutes into overtime to clinch the win.

Republic had taken a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the game when Will Pinnell put the ball in the net unassisted. Joplin tied the game about eight minutes later.
The Tigers regained the lead less than four minutes after that, when Diego Zuniga scored on a breakaway with about 21 minutes remaining in the first half.
Joplin tied the score late in the second half, then scored again in overtime to escape with a win.
Koal Williams made nine saves in goal for Republic.
Joplin improves to 9-8. The Tigers fall to 7-14. They’ll host Kickapoo on October 19.
