Anytime your leadoff hitter drives in four runs and scores four runs, you’re probably having a pretty good night. That’s what happened for Republic at Lebanon Thursday in a 12-1 victory.
Addison Walker led the offensive onslaught, going 3-for-3 with four runs scored and four RBIs from the leadoff spot. Paige Elsenraat added three hits in four at-bats, driving in two runs and scoring twice.
Addie Brown contributed a perfect 3-for-3 night at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Ashland Schaumann chipped in two hits and scored twice.
The Lady Tigers pounded out 14 hits while holding Lebanon to just two.
Kara Goeke controlled the game from the circle, pitching all five innings to earn the win. She allowed one run on two hits, striking out four and walking two.
Republic jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first inning and four more in the second. After Lebanon scored its lone run in the third, Republic responded with one in the fourth and five in the fifth.
The win improves Republic’s record to 7-2 overall. The Lady Tigers play Fort Zumwalt West — the first of three Friday games — tomorrow morning at home (10:30 am) as part of Ozark’s Fall Festival Tournament.
