Republic Softball Closes Strong at Park Hill South Tournament

Republic went 1-2 at the Park Hill South Tournament over the weekend, before their fourth scheduled game was washed out by rain.

Savannah edged Republic 2-1 in the opener Friday. Annabelle Gerhardt-Hobbs went 3-for-3 with a run scored, while Addie Brown added two hits. Piper Dishman took the loss despite allowing just one hit over five innings. She struck out six and walked five. Both Savannah runs scored in the first inning on an error.

Liberty North defeated Republic 11-4 in Friday’s second game. The Eagles built an 8-1 lead through 3 1/2 innings. Dishman went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead Republic’s offense. Kara Goeke pitched six innings in the loss, giving up 11 runs (nine earned) on 16 hits. Sammi Watson doubled and scored.

Republic routed St. Pius X 18-1 in three innings to close the tournament in a Saturday morning game. Watson homered and drove in five runs, finishing 2-for-2. Paige Elsenraat went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Lilli Richerson was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Piper Dishman earned the win, allowing one hit and striking out seven in three innings. Republic scored 12 runs in the first inning.
