Repmo Bats Go Silent in Home Loss

Republic’s offense went cold in a 10-0 loss to Ozark to start the Central Ozark Conference season at home on Tuesday. Ozark’s Mackenzie Skouby no-hit the Lady Tigers over six innings, and she got more than enough support from her lineup to secure the victory.

Ozark scored two runs in the top of the first inning off Republic starter Piper Dishman, and that’s all that was necessary to secure the win. A six-run fourth inning put the game away, and single runs in the fifth and sixth inning led to an early finish. Ozark racked up 14 base hits — eight against Dishman and six more against reliever Kara Goeke.

Skouby was not overpowering. She struck out only four batters, but she kept Republic hitters off-balance all night. Republic hit only four balls out of the infield, and the only two baserunners reached on Ozark errors.

The game was Ozark’s first of the season. Republic falls to 3-2 and will travel to Nixa on Thursday.
