Preston McCracken’s explosive first-half performance led Republic to a 35-9 victory over Waynesville in Friday’s home opener.
The senior quarterback completed 4 of 6 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown, averaging 42.3 yards per completion. He also rushed for 65 yards, contributing to Republic’s balanced offensive attack.
McCracken’s 66-yard touchdown pass to Cannon Ellison opened the scoring for Republic. Later in the half, he connected with Keiran Govan on a 52-yard pass, setting up Mason Fleetwood’s second touchdown run of the night.
The Tigers’ offense, under McCracken’s direction, scored all 35 points in the first half. Republic finished with 368 total yards, with McCracken accounting for 234 of them.
