Republic’s defense pitched a shutout in a 35-0 win over Ozark Friday, dominating with relentless pressure from the opening drive.
The Tiger defense racked up 27 tackles, with 11 coming behind the line of scrimmage. Ethan Montiel and Grayson Hart led the charge, each recording three tackles for loss. Montiel topped the team’s stat sheet with four tackles and three assists.
Republic’s aggressive pursuit held Ozark to just 69 rushing yards for the game. The pass defense was just as tough, allowing only seven completions on 31 attempts.
The defense also made its presence felt with key turnovers. Cam Allen snagged an interception, while Jin Villasica recovered a fumble.
Their shutdown performance kept Ozark off the scoreboard entirely, helping Republic pick up its second straight win. The defensive unit’s dominant showing earns this week’s Performance of the Week honors.
