Payne, Wilson Lead Republic at Lebanon Invitational

The Republic High School cross country teams competed at the Lebanon Invitational on Saturday.

The girls team placed third overall with 76 points. Catherine Wilson led Republic with a 14th place finish, completing the course in 22:17.0. Brylie Harris and Quinnlyn Keller finished close behind in 17th and 18th place respectively, both clocking 22:32.

On the boys side, Republic took fourth place with 84 points. Will Payne paced the Tigers with a fifth place finish in 17:27.0. Lucas Riffe was Republic’s second finisher, coming in 12th at 18:17.2.

Lebanon won the girls team title on their home course with 28 points. Rolla claimed the boys championship with 47 points.

Other top-30 Republic finishers for the girls included Zoey Johns in 24th and Mei Pruett in 28th. For the boys, Gabe Benjamin placed 26th and Dalton Glendenning finished 30th.

Republic’s next meet is scheduled for September 21 at the Missouri Southern State University Stampede in Joplin.
