Republic’s softball team advanced to the championship game of the Morrisville tournament with a 4-3 semifinal win over Cassville Saturday evening. The Lady Tigers improved to 3-0 on the season.
Addie Brown continued her hot start, driving in three runs, including the game-winner in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brown had two of Republic’s six hits and made a crucial running catch in the left field corner to help preserve the lead.
Kara Goeke earned the win in relief, pitching a scoreless inning. Starter Piper Dishman went four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Annabelle Gerhardt-Hobbs added three hits and an RBI for Republic.
Brown has now driven in eight runs through the first three games of the season. The Lady Tigers were set to play for the tournament title late Saturday night.
