Gracie Troester blasted past the 5-minute barrier for the first time on her way to a third-place finish in the 1600m run at the Class 5 State Track & Field Championship in Jefferson City. She shattered her own school record by about seven seconds in the proces.
Troester finished in 4:57.51. She finished the fourth and final lap faster than any of the other 15 competitors in a blistering 1:12.15, passing Evyn Humphrey of Francis Howell on the home stretch to finish in the top three.
