Republic will send eight athletes to the Class 5 state track & field meet next weekend in Jefferson City to compete in 13 different events. Jenna Belcher and Gracie Troester will lead the Lady Tigers after qualifying in four events each on Saturday at the sectional meet in Waynesville.
Zion Allen will represent the Tigers after winning the high jump and finishing second in the long jump Saturday on the boys side.

Two school records fell for Republic in the relays and one in an individual event. The 4x200m relay team of Gracie Woods, Reese Finley, Brooklyn Douglas, and Jenna Belcher shaved more than a half-second off the mark they set at the Central Ozark Conference championship in Joplin earlier this season. Their time Saturday, 1:44.76, was good for third place. The 4x800m relay team of Kristin Probst, Gracie Woods, Reese Finley, and Gracie Troester finished in 9:37.23, smoking the year-old mark of 9:43.59 set at sectionals last year by Probst, Woods, Cali Thompson, and Troester. Troester finished the 800m run in 2:17.59, nipping her own mark of 2:17.66, which she set at sectionals last year.
In addition to four events each for Belcher and Troester, Alaina Norman qualified in three events—two individual events and a relay. Reese Finley and Gracie Woods each qualified in three relay races. Kristin Probst qualified in two relays, and Brooklyn Douglas advanced in one.
Five Republic athletes fell short in other events. Reese Finley finished fifth in the 400m dash. Kaleb Norman and James Rexroat finished out of the top four in the javelin, Avery Rossow fell short in the discus, and Daniel Fair did not qualify in the pole vault.
