The Republic track and field team had a strong showing at the Nixa Invitational Tuesday. The girls team finished first with 169 points, 25 points ahead of second-place Ozark. The boys team finished third, behind Kickapoo and Nixa.
Junior Gracie Troester led the way with three individual victories in the girls’ 800 meter run (2:22.13), 1600 meter run (5:10.93), and 3200 meter run (11:09.56). She also contributed to the winning girls’ 4×800 meter relay team alongside Kristin Probst, Gracie Woods, and Reese Finley (9:50.94).
Senior Zion Allen, who broke the school record with a jump of 7.0 meters at the Hillcrest Invitational last week, also had an impressive day, winning both the boys’ high jump (1.92m, 6-03.50) and long jump (6.55m, 21-06.00). Other first-place finishes included senior Jenna Belcher in the girls’ triple jump (11.19m), senior Alaina Norman in the girls’ shot put (11.6m), sophomore William Payne in the boys’ 300 meter hurdles (42.12), and senior James Rexroat in the boys’ javelin (47.84m, 156-11).
The girls’ 4×400 meter relay team of Gracie Woods, Reese Finley, Kristin Probst, and Alaina Norman, secured a victory with a time of 4:05.41.
