Tiger Bats Silenced in Loss to Liberty North

Liberty North’s Gabe Perry stifled the Republic bats in a 13-0 win to open the Red and Blue Tournament at Hillcrest High School Thursday. Perry struck out 10 batters in six innings and allowed only one base hit.

The Liberty North bats had no such problems against Republic, as the Eagles racked up 10 base hits and drew 10 walks. Cannon Ellison started for Republic and suffered the loss, allowing seven runs (five earned) in five innings of work. Ethan Anderson pitched two innings of relief, allowing six runs.

Republic’s only base hit was a single by Trace Harrington. Garrett Lester and Cooper Pilkinton each reached base twice on walks.

The Eagles scored two runs in the first inning and three in the third to take a 5-0 lead. They added single runs in the fourth and sixth, stretching their lead to 7-0, before tacking on six runs in the top of the seventh.

The win improves Liberty North’s record to 8-2. Republic falls to 5-4. The Tigers will play Lee’s Summit West and Oak Park Friday. (Republic Tiger Sports is planning to live stream the afternoon game against Lee’s Summit West.)
