If you only glance at the scoring column in the box scores from Republic’s first two district wins, you might overlook the contributions of Lauren Chastain. Chastain has been playing some of her best basketball since the postseason began, and against Nixa, the senior guard had one of the best all-around games of the season to help the Lady Tigers advance to the district championship game.
Chastain finished with eight points against Willard and seven points against Nixa, but she contributed in much bigger ways than scoring. In two district games, Chastain has grabbed 20 rebounds. Her 11 boards against Willard were a season high, while nine rebounds against Nixa matched her highest single-game total before that.
