Performance of the Week: Garrett Lester

Garrett Lester’s great performance last week was not confined to one game. In fact, it began before the week started, all the way back on Saturday, March 16. Starting with his last three plate appearances against Columbia Rock Bridge, Lester put together an astonishing streak of 14 consecutive plate appearances in which he reached base by a hit or a walk.

Lester singled, doubled, and walked in his final three plate appearances against Rock Bridge. He came to bat five times against Rogersville, singling four times and walking once.

Against Monett, Lester came up four more times without being retired. He drew three walks and hit a double, running his streak to 12.

The following night, against Glendale, Lester singled to lead off the game, then walked in the third inning, giving him 14 consecutive plate appearances without being retired. The string finally ended when Lester struck out in the top of the fifth.

Lester ended the week with three more walks against Skiatook, Oklahoma. As the week begins, he has an on-base percentage of .655 and a batting average of .444. His perfect string of plate appearances is our Performance of the Week.
