Republic Routs Camdenton with Defensive Dominance, Steps into Semifinals

Republic scored a dozen points before Camdenton got on the scoreboard, then cruised to an easy victory in the opening round of the Bolivar Liberator Tournament, 55-24. The Tigers allowed just two points in the first quarter, building a 26-8 halftime lead.

Camdenton didn’t score its first basket until five minutes had elapsed at the beginning of the game. The Tigers allowed just two three-pointers in the second quarter and three field goals during the first half.

Despite spending much of the first half on the bench with foul trouble, Brenley Hagewood led the Tigers with 17 points. Jordan Douglas was also in double figures with 11 points.

Ten different players scored for Republic, including freshman Keiran Govan, who just recently moved up to the varsity squad. He sank a free throw in the fourth quarter for his first career point.

The Tigers advance to the semifinals of the tournament Friday against Strafford. The Indians beat Branson in their quarterfinal, 69-50. Republic improves to 10-6.
